Amyris texana

Rare. Native. Beautifully aromatic.

Texas Torchwood is a hard-to-find South Texas native shrub with glossy green foliage and a naturally sculptural shape. When brushed or gently crushed, the leaves release a subtle citrus aroma. In parts of Mexico, Chapotillo has traditionally been used to flavor regional cuisine, making this plant culturally meaningful as well as ornamental.

Small fragrant blooms attract butterflies and other pollinators, making it a wonderful addition to wildlife gardens, native landscapes, and drought-tolerant designs.

• Native evergreen shrub

• Butterfly-attracting blooms

• Drought tolerant once established

• Thrives in full sun to part sun

• Well-rooted plant in nursery container (see photos for current size)

This is a rare find and a beautiful way to incorporate true Texas heritage into your landscape.
